Country artist Brad Butcher joins Ambition Records

Queensland country singer-songwriter Brad Butcher has signed with Ambition Records.

It follows his first eight years as an independent during which time he released four albums that gained him two Golden Guitars and a Queensland Music Awards trophy.

He’s recorded and toured through North America, and received 20 songwriting award nominations in the past few years.

“Brad is an exceptional singer-songwriter talent that has established a strong country music following but has a great future ahead of him branching further into the mainstream of singer-songwriter territory,” Ambition label chief Robert Rigby said.

Ambition is releasing two Butcher albums in 2022.

The first is Storyteller: The Story So Far, which comes out in January 2022, and features current radio single ‘Cutting People’s Grass’ and duets with Felicity Urquhart & Brielle Brown.

Based in Brisbane, Butcher began in Mackay and admits he was late taking up music as a career.

He played 20 years of rugby league and worked in the mines.

But the guitar was a constant in his life. Butcher said Busby Marou’s Tom Busby was instrumental in getting his music career away, providing advice and contacts.

“The past 10 years have been a myriad of musical trial and error,” Butcher said of Storyteller.

“In many cases one step forward and two steps back, but ultimately, I have grown to be the artist I am today because of that journey.

“Musically the path has never really changed. I write in my own way, record the sounds and style that I have always loved, and I have stayed true to who I am.”
