BENEE is growing a new label, Olive

BENEE planted a seed, and it’s grown into Olive.

The 20-year-old Kiwi artist is a rising star, racking up more than two billion streams with her breakout, breakup hit ‘Supalonely.’ And she’s now a label chief, today launching Olive and unveiling its first signing.

With Olive, BENEE is keen to support other up-and-coming artists.

The first is Muroki, smooth-voiced 19-year-old Kenyan/Kiwi, Raglan artist who caught BENEE’s attention last year with his debut self-titled release ‘Better Or Worse.’

“Already I’ve loved being able to connect Muroki with people,” she says in a statement announcing her new venture. “I playlist his song whenever I can and played it to Elton John when I met him on his radio show. It is great to bring him out on tour in front of my supporters cos I know they’re gonna love this guy, his band and his music.”

Joining BENEE at Olive is label manager Trieste Douglas, formerly A&R for Universal NZ, and Poppy Tohill from her management firm CRS.

The team is “already packed with some hardworking badass women and I feel this is an important time for us in the music business to come together and make some really cool shit happen,” she says.

Muroki will tour with BENEE in NZ this month, where he’ll get the chance road-test his first release through Olive, ‘Light Me Up,’ out today (9th October).

It’s full-steam ahead for BENEE, who this week announced the final night of her sold out tour of NZ will be livestreamed.

BENEE’s website beneemusic.com will host the exclusive stream 17th October from Auckland’s Spark Arena, in what’s said to be a world first.

“Musicians from all over the place are missing the live connection with their supporters right now so I feel incredibly lucky to be able to get back on stage,” she explains in a statement issued by Live Nation, which is producing the trek. “I’m so excited that we’re streaming the Auckland show, it means we can bring my fans from all over into the room with us.”

Also this week, the indie-pop talent performed her hit ‘Supalonely’ on Seth Meyer’s U.S. ‘Late Night’ show, and she dropped the video for her new release, ‘Snail.’

‘Superlonely’ has blasted past 2.2 billion streams across all platforms and there’s more to come.

According to a spokesperson, BENEE is preparing for the “imminent” announcement of her debut album release.
