BandLab launches free music mastering, expands team

PRESS RELEASE:

BandLab, the social music platform where users can create, collaborate and share their music, today launches a free online integrated mastering tool to empower musicians to always be able to create perfectly polished, radio-ready tracks. BandLab also welcomes three global business experts to its strategic leadership team.

BandLab Introduces Another First – Free, Unlimited Use Cloud Mastering Service

Mastering is an important addition to the native creative tools and services in BandLab’s social music platform. Integrated throughout the workflow and complementing BandLab’s Mix Editor, the platform’s groundbreaking cross-platform DAW, creators now can polish their music with brilliantly enhanced dynamics and superior spectral quality.

To professional musicians, mastering is an important step in the creative process that brings an audio mix to distribution-quality. When a song is played on a radio or streaming service, the sonic elements of the track have usually been finely balanced by a professional mastering engineer to ensure that everything can sound its best.

BandLab’s new online mastering service is the first such tool with free unlimited use and is compatible with all major music formats. The new feature is also integrated across the entire existing BandLab creative workflow so that creators can share final mastered tracks across the BandLab social music platform or download their finished works as high-quality versions for distribution to other services.

“At BandLab we’re always trying to make sure our users have seamless access to the tools and the community to make their best music possible. The art of mastering is often misrepresented as being replaceable by technology, and though we are very proud of the strength of the service we’re launching today, nothing will beat the services of a seasoned expert. We hope that by bringing universal access to the highest quality of algorithmic mastering, we will raise awareness of the benefits of mastering amongst our creators and their fans, and therefore create more opportunities for the professional mastering engineers in the global BandLab community,” says BandLab CEO, Meng Ru Kuok.

Strengthening the BandLab Technologies Strategic Leadership Team

BandLab also announces significant additions to the strategic leadership team, William Adamopoulos as Senior Advisor, Ivan Chen as Group COO and Thomas Callahan as Group CFO.

“As our team expands and revenue streams grow internationally across our different verticals, I believe it is essential to match our team’s passion and drive with access to tremendous experience,” says Kuok. “With his global reach and business acumen, Will Adamopoulos has been a key advisor to me as our group has grown over the last 18 months, and I’m proud to welcome him on board in an official capacity. Likewise, Tom Callahan’s expertise has been instrumental in supporting Ivan and me in key deals completed this year, and some that we have yet to announce. In a highly-competitive global environment, I’m excited by the wealth of talent throughout the group. I’m equally proud of the foundation we have built as we execute our product vision for the millions of music lovers around the world who we already reach directly – with hopefully more to come.”

William Adamopoulos is also the CEO/Asia of Forbes Media and President & Publisher of Forbes Asia. He previously was the Publisher and Managing Director of The Asian Wall Street Journal, and the President of Dow Jones Publishing Company (Asia). He graduated from Harvard College, where he studied economics.

Ivan Chen joins BandLab equipped with global investment experience. Previously with multi-strategy fund Seatown Holdings and Singapore’s Temasek, Ivan has taken on the mantle of Group Chief Operating Officer to oversee operations and drive efficiency and integration across BandLab Technologies. He graduated from Oxford and holds an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

Veteran financial expert Thomas Callahan joined BandLab as Group Chief Financial Officer in August 2016. Callahan has a distinguished financial track record, including 15 years at Forbes Media, culminating in a three-year tenure as CFO. He is responsible for leading BandLab Technologies’ worldwide finance and strategy, corporate development and compliance.
