Aussie hits #1 in China with Jackie Chan-curated boy band
Australian singer Prince Henry Mak has debuted at #1 on the Chinese QIY K-Pop chart, as part of five-piece boy band JJCC.
The group was put together by Hong Kong film star Jackie Chan – who has traded choreographing stunts for choreographing dance moves – and is based in Seoul. 23-year-old Mak relocated to South Korea in 2012, after being discovered by a visiting scout while teaching dance at Crossover Dance Studios in Goulburn Street, Sydney.
Despite being a South Korean-based group (Mak is the only member not to hail from the region), JJCC have found early success in China, topping their K-Pop charts with their debut single, At First.
The group will perform at Chan’s 60th birthday concert next week in Beijing.
