Aus speakers at Intl Music Summit, Sydney lockouts discussed
Five key Australian music industry executives and artists are among those speaking at the International Music Summit Asia Pacific held in Singapore on December 11.
Joining keynote speaker Dutch DJ superstar Armin Van Buuren are Richie McNeill (Director of Special Operations for Beatport Asia Pacific); DJ Kaz James; promoter Totem Onelove Director Frank Cotela; DJ Murat Kilik who is also CEO of Reckless Republic and Spice; and One Love Records’ Head of A&R Matt Nugent.
Among the other 26 in the first round of speakers are Mark Lawrence, CEO of UK-based Association For Electronic Music; agent Aleks Ljubojevic of Netherland’s Anna Agency; UK artist manager Simon Napier-Bell; Malaysia’s Livescope co-founder Rahul Kukreja; Editor In Chief of Philippines’ Pulse Radio Mikhail Schemm; W Hotel Asia Pacific Music Director Mr. Has; Singapore radio LUSH 99.5 presenter Chris Ho; UK agent Finlay Johnson of WME; Indian promoter Prateek Pandey of stick!; DJ Tennis of Italy’s Daze Agency and Elita Festival; Singapore club Kyo owner Godwin Pereira; US agency Bullitt co-owner Ryan Saltzman; Senior Bookings Manager of China’s Storm Festival Emily Hou; and Head of Program at Kuala Lumpur’s ZOUK Lau Hoe Yin Blink.
US artists Kaskade (also a keynote speaker) and Sharam of Deep Dish join regional performers Scarlett Etienne (Hong Kong/ Bali), Kavan Spruyt (Singapore), Akshai Sharin (India) and DJ Sabrina (Singapore).
Among the topics are Saving Sydney, on how its scene was decimated and how to avoid it recurring in other cities.
Other talking points are Protect The Dancefloor about challenges facing the region’s EDM scene, East Meets West on how artists from different parts of the world tackle the Asian market, Developing The Eco-System on building success in the Asia Pacific markets, while New Horizons looks at key new initiatives from various sectors.
