International venue operator ASM Global is this week holding the largest job fair in live entertainment history across four continents.

The three-day virtual event called The Next Great Opportunity tries to address the staffing shortage hampering the recovery of the live music business.

ASM wants to hire 1,000 staff in 100 stadiums, convention centres, theatres and arenas.

These participating buildings host more than 160 million guests annually.

The roles are in operations, business development finance, F&B, HR, sales, marketing, booking, security, guest services, audio visual tech and catering, and range from hourly to salaried levels.

Australian venues taking part include Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney; RAC Arena, Perth; Brisbane Entertainment Centre; ICC Sydney; and Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Others around the world include Barclays Center, New York; AO Arena, Manchester; Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre; OVO Arena, Wembley; Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong; Buenos Aries Arena; and Te Pae Christchurch Convention and Exhibition Centre, New Zealand.

The venues in the U.S., Canada and Latin America are scheduled to host the job fair February 15—16, while APAC (including Australia), the UK and Gulf Region welcome visitors February 16—17.

Australian and APAC jobseekers can find out more here, while Australians wanting jobs elsewhere abroad should check out North American opportunities here and the UK here.

Ron Bension

ASM Global CEO and president Ron Bension said the ‘return to live’ is just what the world needs.

“There’s a thrill, an excitement, that makes this business feel communal for everyone involved,” he said.

“Our hope is that ASM Global Presents: The Next Great Opportunity helps ignite that excitement.”

Harvey Lister AM, Brisbane-based chairman and CEO of ASM Global APAC, called it a great initiative and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for participants to start a career with ASM Global.

“Attending the Job Fair, offers a virtual front row seat to learn more about the job opportunities in our Australian venues and those in the dynamic regions of the Asia Pacific and Middle East,” he said.

“We are looking for candidates both those who have experience in the event management and services industry but also those with a skillset that might be transferrble.”
