ARIA launches charts app on Spotify
ARIA launched its own charts app on music streaming service Spotify this morning.
The app will feature each week’s ARIA charts, such as Albums and Singles, as well as all of ARIA’s specialty charts (jazz, country, Australian, and more), each with streaming links. The information is updated each Saturday evening at 7pm, in conjunction with the current weekly chart release.
We asked ARIA Communications Manager Luke Woods a few questions regarding how the app works.
Firstly, tell us about this app? Is it basically a series of playlists which updates every week?
The ARIA Charts app will provide Spotify users with quick and easy listening access to all of the ARIA Charts each week. Essentially the Charts App hosts a series of playlists, that update automatically at 7pm every Saturday night.
For how long has this app been in the works?
In late 2012 ARIA launched its very first Streaming Tracks Chart and since that time we have been working with a number of streaming services on a range of new initiatives – the ARIA Charts Spotify App is one of them.
Who do you foresee using this app?
This App will give all music-fans using the Spotify service access to an official account of the music the Australian public is buying and listening to each week. It will also be a welcome addition for our passionate ARIA Charts audience, who tune into the Charts week in and week out.
Are there plans to make this a stand-alone app in the future, or to launch it through other streaming services?
We are continuing to work with our Chart-data providers to explore new ways to give music fans faster and easier access to the ARIA Charts, so this definitely won’t be the last of these initiatives. Watch this space.
The app is able to be accessed via the Spotify App Finder, in the left hand menu of the program.
