ARIA Chart Predictions: Parkway Drive eye second straight #1 album, Middle Kids tussle for the Top 10
After scoring their first Australian #1 album with 2015’s Ire, local hardcore outfit Parkway Drive are looking to add another chart-topper to their cabinet with new album Reverance. A Top 3 spot is likely for Parkway, at the very least, as a number of resilient competitors (Post Malone, Keith Urban, Missy Higgins) vie to retain their spot in the top bracket.
Middle Kids are on the radar with debut album Lost Friends eyeing a Top 10 chart entrance. With a string of Aussie tour dates getting underway this week, it will be a vast improvement for the band this time around – 2017 self-titled EP dropped in at #26 on the chart.
Other album debuts this week include Leon Bridges’ Good Thing (Top 10), Shinedown’s sixth studio album Attention Attention (Top 30) and UK act Jon Hopkins’ new release Singularity (Top 40).
Troye Sivan is getting decent traction with his latest single ‘Bloom’, both at radio and on streaming services. While not the highest debut of the week, Sivan should land comfortably in the Top 30 on the Singles Chart. The highest debut looks likely to be Shawn Mendes, however, with his latest album cut ‘Youth’ ft. Khalid set to arrive in the Top 20.
Meanwhile, 5 Seconds Of Summer and Amy Shark continue to drive up the Singles Chart with mid-week data hinting at a slight jump for both ‘Youngblood’ and ‘I Said Hi’.
The big question for the Singles Chart will be where Childish Gambino‘s surprise release of ‘This Is America’ ends up, as we look to find out whether the hyper-viral nature of the accompanying video clip translates into streams and digital purchases.
