ARIA Chart Predictions: Keith Urban & Missy Higgins gunning for Top 3 finishes, two more Aussies eyeing the Top 10

Two household Australian names are vying for Top 3 debuts on the ARIA Albums Chart this week. Keith Urban’s Graffiti U and Missy HigginsSolastalgia have notched up strong numbers at the halfway mark, contending with rapper Post Malone for a shot at #1.

Both Urban and Higgins have strong charting histories in Australia. Three studio albums by Urban have hit the top (The Story So Far; RipcordFuse), while Higgins has a near-perfect success rate, with three of her four studio albums debuting at #1.

Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys is arguably generating more of a reception this week, but physical sales will keep Urban and Higgins in the race. Malone’s fans tend to stream his music – which has a lower contribution to the chart – while Urban and Higgins fans are more likely to buy the full album in physical or digital form, significantly upping their chances of reaching the top.

Another two Aussies, Kasey Chambers & The Fireside Disciples and Sydney act DMA’S, are preparing themselves for Top 10 debuts. Chambers’ last #1 album came only last year when Dragonfly debuted in the top spot in February.

Compared to Chambers, DMA’S have far less experience on the chart, but prove they have plenty to offer. 2016 debut album Hills End entered the chart at #8 on its first week, but new release For Now could potentially set a new PB for the band.

Stay tuned for more in-depth Post Malone ARIA charts analysis over the next few days.
