Amy Shark cracks 10m streams, goes Platinum

As she embarks on a sell-out tour, fast-rising Gold Coast singer-songwriter Amy Shark has exceeded 10 million streams for her single Adore, which has been certified Platinum for Australian sales of 70,000.

The swooning ode to a hopeless crush was last year’s biggest local Cinderella story, establishing itself as a breakout hit on triple J’s Unearthed and then on the big-sister station, before eventually taking out #2 on the Hottest 100 in January this year.

Shark’s continued presence in the Australian Singles Reportis a testament to the numbers.Adore peaked at #4 on the Artist Top 50, a chart that includes streaming data to determine positioning.

Adore is also performing well across Australian and digital charts. It’s currently at #3 on the Australian Hot 100 and Google Play, a peak position for Shark in both charts. Australian radio is also behind the track, remaining at #1 on the AIR Radio chart for another week.

The track has appeared at least twice on every Australian Singles Report since its inception in October 2016, maxing out at a huge nine appearances two weeks in a row after her Hottest 100 triumph – including #3 on the Heatseekers chart (indicating upward movement throughout the week) and top ten chart placings for Spotify, iTunes, Shazam and Google Play.

Adore also makes its tenth appearance in the ARIA Top 50 singles chart this week, sitting only one place below last week at 27.

A 6-track EP titled Night Thinker is set for release on April 21, through Wonderlick Recording Company in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment Australia.

New single Weekends was produced by Dann Hume (Matt Corby, Daniel Johns, Courtney Barnett) and is available as an instant grat when pre-ordering the EP.

As recently reported in TMN, Shark is eyeing the overseas market, signing with RCA Records in the US and with booking agencies Paradigm Talent Agency (US), United TalentAgency (Canada) and Coda Agency (UK / Europe).
