Tunecore Australia’s Gareth Mellor joins Fuga
Gareth Mellor, head of Tunecore Australia, has joined digital music distribution network Fuga to oversee its global corporate brand development and product marketing strategy.
Tunecore entered the Australian market in 2015, and Mellor has been based in London, also serving as head of its operations in New Zealand and the UK.
He was earlier a marketing director at Kobalt Music Group and AWAL.
Fuga offers full-service marketing, promotion, monetisation and label services. It is headquartered in Amsterdam, and has offices in New York, London, Seoul and Milan, and representatives in Brazil and Japan.
Mellor said he’s long admired Fuga for its dedication to industry-leading technology.
“Across both audio and video distribution, Fuga has led the way where others now follow.
“It is an honour to join at this point in the company’s development and I look forward to taking a key role in boosting Fuga’s brand on the global stage and bringing its products to market.”
Last September, Aussie expat Craig May – who held senior roles at Shock, Ditto and Kartel – joined as head of streaming & marketing services.
This year Fuga hired Los Angeles-based Connie Chow as marketing strategy manager for dance/electronic, and New York-based Greg Vegas as director of client relations, Americas.
Fuga CEO Pieter van Rijn said: “We have been delighted to welcome Gareth, Connie and Greg on board to continue the evolution of the Fuga brand and to market our continually expanding suite of products and services.
“Their deep industry knowledge and extensive experience within the independent music sector will allow us to deliver even greater value and bring a wealth of new insight to our global clients.”
