The Whitlams sound as exuberant as ever on ‘(You’re Making Me Feel Like I’m) 50 Again’
Australian rock royalty The Whitlams have stepped out with a taste of their forthcoming album in the form of their upbeat new single ‘(You’re Making Me Feel Like I’m) 50 Again’.
Recorded between Byron Bay and Sydney by longtime collaborator Daniel Denholm and mixed by Tim Palmer in Austin, Texas, ‘(You’re Making Me Feel Like I’m) 50 Again’ sees The Whitlams eschew their balladeering tendencies for the better, pairing new-wave synths and honky-tonk pianos with surging electric guitars to result in a spritely, stadium-ready rock banger.
With tongue-in-cheek, lead vocalist Tim Freedman laments the experience of love and ageing across the track, peppering subtle hints of cynicism throughout his lyrics to make for one of the band’s most playful tracks to date.
‘(You’re Making Me Feel Like I’m) 50 Again’ arrives in anticipation of The Whitlams upcoming Gaffage & Clink Tour, which sees the veteran rockers trek around the country for a mighty 46 show run in August and September.
