APRA AMCOS has launched a new songwriting masterclass series, taking place in regional New South Wales in June.

The Regional Sessions will comprise five full-day events containing panels, workshop sessions, networking opportunities and keynote speeches. The end of the program will include a curated performance and some post-event networking. The sessions are designed for emerging and mid-career songwriters and music creators from all genres.

Musical guests hosting events for the program include folktronica act Gordi, Midnight Oil founding member Jim Moginie, electronic musician Nina Las Vegas, soul singer-songwriter Benny Walker and country artist Catherine Britt, among others.

“I am looking forward to sharing songwriting inspiration as well as plenty of practical and helpful advice to my fellow songwriters at The Regional Sessions in Dubbo. As someone who grew up in a regional area, I encourage anyone making music to come along and get the most out of a day dedicated to what we all love to do – write songs,” Gordi said in a statement.

Events are scheduled for Tamworth, Byron Bay, Wagga Wagga, Dubbo and Wollongong. APRA AMCOS’ head of member services Jana Gibson said The Regional Sessions “aims to help songwriters across New South Wales hone their craft, develop their skills and provide opportunities to meet like-minded creatives”.

Early bird tickets are on sale for a limited time through APRA AMCOS’ website.
