Spotify feature to catalogue Liked Songs by genre and mood filters

Spotify feature to catalogue Liked Songs by genre and mood filters

Australia is among the first countries in the world to get a new Spotify feature that allows free and premium users to catalogue their Liked Songs by genre and mood filters.

The company told users, “Your Liked Songs on Spotify are a collection of you—spanning every genre you’ve ever enjoyed and each mood you’ve experienced.

“Some days, you might be looking to play the entire eclectic mix, while on others, you’re searching for a certain feel.

“With this new feature, listeners with at least 30 tracks in their collections will be able to filter their favourite songs by up to 15 personalized mood and genre categories.”

The different genre and mood filters for Liked Songs, available on Android and iOS, include rap, trap, chill, folk, indie and electronic.

In January, Spotify announced new technology that allowed users to choose songs based on user moods.

To explore the new feature, users go to Your Library and tap on Liked Songs and tap one of the filters at the top of the playlist to display all the tracks that fall under that mood or genre.

Spotify explained, “You can still add new favourites to Liked Songs (and even remove them) in the same way as usual, by tapping the ‘heart’ button.

“But as your tastes change or if you add and remove songs, your genre and mood filters will also update based on the content of your collection.”

Other countries getting the new feature alongside Australia are the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa.
