Industry heavyweights named in Indie-Con 2020 speaker lineup

Indie-Con 2020 kicks off next week, and AIR has announced a stellar lineup of industry experts joining as speakers.

Taking place over two days, from October 1 – 2, Indie-Con is free to AIR members, trade association members of the worldwide independent network (WIN) and members of other Australian music industry bodies.

Non-members can also attend at special price of $49

Musicians Ali Barter, Charlotte Abroms (Hear Hear Group, Ainslie Wills, Angie McMahon), Leigh Treweek, Emily Ulman (Isol-Aid) and Jamie Gough (Native Tongue) join a panel on how to monetise touring and protect your copyright, moderated by Marcus Walkom (Media Arts Lawyers, We Are Golden).

There are case studies on releasing music in lockdown with speakers including Andrew Stone, Tim Nelson (Cub Sport), Alex The Astronaut and Melody Forghani, moderated by Mardi Caught (The Annex).

Blake Rayner (The Orchard) will moderate a panel on how to get on top of your revenue streams, joined by John Ferris (TMRW), Maya Janeska (Believe Digital), Jacqui Louez Schoorl (Jaxsta) and Vo Williams.

More speakers across the two days include Terry McBride (Nettwerk Music Group), Kira Puru, Ari Herstand (Ari’s Take), Johann Ponniah (I OH YOU), Meg Williams (Inertia), Hazel Savage (Musiio), Shav Garg (indify), John Watson (Eleven: A Music Company, Missy Higgins, Birds of Tokyo) Jaguar Jonze, Ben Dennis (Peking Duk) and Ahilleas Papantos.

Will Page and Ollie Wards from TikTok will give interviews, and there will be presentations by Merlin, Chartmetric, APRA AMCOS, Noisehive, PPCA and White Sky.

“The Indie-Con Australia conference provides the  both nationally and locally an opportunity to come together to support each other through these challenging times as well as have important conversations about navigating the future,” Innovation and Skills Minister David Pisoni previously said.

The 2020 Air Awards take place on the night of Thursday, October 1, with performances by Stella Donnelly, Angie McMahon, The Teskey Brothers, and The Soul Movers, hosted by Master of Ceremonies Dylan Lewis and Jessica Braithwaite.
