Peter Gabriel partners with Caroline International for solo work

PRESS RELEASE:

Internationally acclaimed and globally successful recording artist and songwriter Peter Gabriel has today partnered with Caroline International for the distribution of his seminal catalogue of music, with immediate effect.

This new partnership will see Caroline, the global services unit of Universal Music, take on the distribution worldwide (apart from North America, Australia and New Zealand) of Peter Gabriel’s solo albums, soundtracks and live audio releases from his debut, 1977’s ‘Peter Gabriel’, up to and including ‘HIT’, originally released in 2003. In addition Caroline will work alongside Peter and his team on creative marketing and promotional opportunities for Peter’s catalogue.

Mike Large, CEO of Real World: “Peter has always wanted to work in partnership with his label rather than be a servant to it, choosing what services he needs rather than being forced to fit into a rigid system. Working with Michael and his team will give us the flexible relationship that we wanted: a true partnership, fuelled by expertise and enthusiasm.”

Michael Roe, Joint Managing Director of Caroline International, said: “I’ve had the privilege of working with Peter Gabriel and Mike Large many times over the years and so I’m delighted that they’ve chosen Caroline as their international label services partner. Peter continues to be one of the most creative and inspirational artists in the world so everyone at Caroline is immensely proud of this new partnership.”

Peter Gabriel first came to international prominence with the success of Genesis, a band that he co-founded while still at school. Since embarking on his solo career in 1975 he has released eleven studio albums, numerous live albums and written for three films.

In 1980 he founded WOMAD (World of Music Arts and Dance), which has presented 150 festivals in over 40 countries. In 1992 he co-founded WITNESS, pioneering the use of cameras and technology in Human Rights work. He was also a founder, with Richard Branson, of The Elders, an organization designed to bring together a small group of highly respected global leaders, formally launched by Nelson Mandela in July 2007.

More recently, Peter launched The Toolbox (thetoolbox.org), to assemble, curate and create the tools with which to transform our lives and the world we live in, whilst his other work interests have been in innovative technology, especially in digital media, music, audio and more recently a visual language and DIY Healthcare.

In November 2014 he performed at the ‘Citizen’s Party’ held at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate to mark the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
