Julia Stone inks worldwide deal with BMG for new album

Julia Stone has signed an exclusive global record deal with BMG.

The Sydney singer-songwriter will release her first solo album since 2012’s By The Horns, which peaked at #11 on the ARIA Albums Chart upon release.

She joins a local roster that includes Tim Minchin, Dune Rats, Hockey Dad, Dope Lemon, Winston Surfshirt (ex. ANZ), SAFIA (ex. ANZ), CHAII, and many more.

The first single from Stone’s new album – ‘Break’ – drops this Thursday (July 16).

BMG Australia managing director, Heath Johns, said Stone is a certified Australian icon.

“Starting with the majesty of ‘Break’, we are truly looking forward to sharing all of Julia’s new songs and visuals with fans around the world,” Johns said.

“I know I speak for BMG globally when I say that we are genuinely thrilled beyond words to be working with Julia and her amazing team at TaP Music”.

The new release follows her curation of charity album Songs For Australia, which was released in early 2020 to raise funds for a number of organisations providing bushfire relief.

The album featured covers of iconic Australian songs by artists like Dermot Kennedy, The National, Laura Mvula, Damien Rice, Kurt Vile, Petit Biscuit and more.

“When I first met Heath and the BMG Australia team I was overwhelmed by their creativity, sincerity and drive,” Stone said in a statement.

“They have a really strong vision for how BMG and the artists they sign can work together in a progressive and effective way.

“It’s no surprise that the rest of the team around the world share this passion. I’m excited to work with everyone at BMG on this new record”.

Stone is one-half of the billion-streaming, sister-brother duo Angus & Julia Stone. Together they have released four studio albums including Platinum singles ‘Big Jet Plane’ and ‘Chateau’.
