AIR Awards and Indie-Con 2020 confirmed, nominees revealed
It’s time to dust off the events calendar. The indie music community’s annual AIR Awards return to Adelaide on October 1, along with the Indie-Con Australia conference over two days.
There is a Plan B though, should travel restrictions get in the away of celebrations. If COVID-19 restrictions prevent a face-to-face event from taking place, the awards will move online.
Organisers today also announced the 2020 nominees with Tones And I continuing her award-busting run. She’s up for Song Of The Year, Pop Album or EP and Breakthrough Artist.
Julia Jacklin, Sampa The Great, Stella Donnelly and The Teskey Brothers are among the candidates with multiple nominations this year.
Innovation and Skills Minister David Pisoni said the South Australian Government is proud to be a major partner for both Indie-Con and the AIR Awards.
“The Indie-Con Australia conference provides the music industry both nationally and locally an opportunity to come together to support each other through these challenging times as well as have important conversations about navigating the future,” Pisoni said.
“The AIR Awards will recognise and celebrate the inspiring talent of Australia’s independent artists during what has been a tough time for the music industry.”
The AIR Awards recognise, promote and celebrate the success of Australia’s thriving independent music sector. Over 150 individual Awards have been presented to date.
