Global muso marketplace AirGigs launches livestream feature
The music industry’s first marketplace for hiring professional artists and engineers, AirGigs, has launched a new section dedicated to livestreaming on its platform.
The new Livestream Shows category allows fans and organisations to hire world-class musicians from around the globe for private online events, including corporate gigs and house parties.
With the number of virtual concerts and performances on the rise during COVID-19 lockdowns, AirGigs co-founder Angela Blacker says the new service makes for a unique experience.
“The music community is adapting in real-time to this unprecedented crisis,” she said.
“We felt this was an innovative way to keep musicians gigging, and provide new possibilities for people and organisations seeking live entertainment from afar.”
AirGigs, which launched in 2012, is an online platform for artists and professionals to offer their creative services and expertise to a wide range of music creators.
Songwriters, music producers, bands and creatives can hire talent to work on their existing projects, or produce an entire song from composition to mastering, all within the AirGigs platform.
The talent available on the service ranges from Grammy winners to top emerging artists, with members from over 160 territories having created pages to promote their services.
Co-founder David Blacker said the platform was created by musicians, for musicians.
“It’s essential that services like AirGigs are available to the community to continue the creative process and to help artists diversify revenue streams outside of touring,” he said.
Prior to the pandemic, AirGigs collected 10% of all revenue earned through their platform. But during the crisis, artists who withdraw over $250.00 will get a 2% cash bonus.
“Our new cash bonus program, coupled with live performance streaming and resource blog, are just some of the new initiatives that we are putting in place to assist our artist community.”
AirGigs says its mission is to give musicians the freedom, resources and opportunities to manifest their creative vision and share it with the world.
