‘It has been a pleasure’: Music SA chief Lisa Bishop to depart

Widely-respected Music SA chief executive Lisa Bishop has resigned.

Chair Anne Wiberg announced the departure on Friday (March 20), saying Bishop will depart at the end of April.

“Lisa has been an outstanding leader and, over the past five years, has taken Music SA from strength to strength,” said Wiberg.

“She has introduced new and exciting products and services for contemporary musicians and the wider industry and attracted a talented team …”

During her time as CEO, Bishop steered the creation of Umbrella Festival which has grown by 30% every year since 2016 and launched a re-branded SA music awards.

She also introduced an annual Live Music Census, created the nationally recognised Scouted showcase and managed Music SA as a Registered Training Organisation.

“I’m extremely grateful for my time as CEO of Music SA and proud of what’s been achieved for musicians,” said Bishop.

“You are only ever as good as the people you surround yourselves with and I have an incredible team, an outstanding Chair, a supportive board and a very switched on network of local and national music industry stakeholders.

“It has been a pleasure to work in the role and I am looking forward to supporting Music SA’s future endeavours,” Ms Bishop says.

Music SA is now recruiting a new CEO with the incumbent expected to start in May.

Bishop will focus on her board work as deputy chair of the Adelaide Fringe, and pursue part-time opportunities that allow her to spend more time with her family.

“Lisa leaves the organisation in a stronger and healthier position for the time that she spent as CEO. We wish her the very best with her future endeavours,” said Wiberg.
