Blurred Lines and Midnight Memories top 2013 global sales charts

One Direction fever is now officially a worldwide epidemic, with the UK lads’ third album Midnight Memories the highest selling record worldwide in 2013.

These figures come from IFPI’s Digital Music Report 2014, which also saw the launch of the Global Recording Artist Chart, which tracks artists’ popularity across multiple channels: plays on YouTube and streaming services, download stores, and physical charts. One Direction also topped this chart.
