Electronic artist Willaris. K signs international label deals
Australian electronic artist Willaris. K has signed record deals as his current touring takes him around the world.
Born Jack McAllister, the one time electrical instrument technician from Tweed Heads has joined the roster of US label Astralwerks.
Part of the Capitol Music Group, Astralwerks has been a pivotal player in bringing cutting-edge electronic and experimental music to US audiences for over 25 years.
Its roster has included Chemical Brothers, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk and Kings of Convenience.
Following its relaunch in 2018, Astralwerks acts include Alison Wonderland, Avalanches, Halsey and Illenium.
Astralwerks general manager Toby Andrews said of the signing: “We’re thrilled to welcome Willaris. K to Astralwerks!
“Working with a talent like Jack I think exemplifies what we stand for as a label, to be promoting and supporting the best that the electronic music scene has to offer.
“His rare ability to travel between underground dance, ambient and everything in between makes us so excited for the future with him.”
Willaris. K has also partnered with Virgin EMI in the UK which will release his music in European markets.
He remains signed to Soothsayer in Australia and New Zealand, Mushroom’s electronic imprint.
Two new tracks will be released this week. “Can’t wait to share what I’ve been working on,” he relayed on social media.
The performer’s current tour through the UK and Europe with RUFUS DU SOL winds up on Friday (October 25) at Alexandra Palace in London after shows in cities as Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg and Frankfurt.
Armed with an Australia Council grant, he will head to the US for festivals and headline shows next week.
He returns to Australia in late November for a festival run including City Loop, Output, Origin and Castaway.
