Artists can now sell merchandise on Spotify
Spotify seemed to be a dirty word for a lot of artists in 2013, with its seemingly-meagre royalty payment system at the centre of the debate.
Enter the ArtistLinks tool (powered by Topspin), which now allows artists, labels and managers to display and sell merchandise from Spotify, no doubt with the hopes that this will help artists earn substantial money through Spotify. Neither Spotify or Topspin make any money from the sales, and all listings are moderated by Spotify, no doubt to avoid the sale of unofficial merchandise by that same British guy out the front of every concert.
The service launches today in Australia and New Zealand, as well as in the major markets US, UK, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland.
