Lady Gaga, manager Troy Carter split

Lady Gaga and manager Troy Carter have split, reports said. Once winning awards for his involvement in her creative output, apparently she stopped taking advice from him. He had little involvement in her ArtPOP campaign. He continues to manage John Legend, Lindsey Stirling and Mindless Behavior.

Nokia Entertainment aims at global content acquisition

Nokia Entertainment appointed Mark Eisenberg to lead its global content acquisition and business affairs from New York. The one time Sony Music exec. was most recently at digital media company LatticeWorks, which he co-founded.

Marcia Hines to be face of Smooth Channel

Marcia Hines is joining new Foxtel adult contemporary music channel Smooth as its host and face. The channel is an extension of dmg Radio’s smoothfm and launches on Tuesday December 3. Marketing itself as “an easy place to relax to and escape”, programming will include concert specials, countdowns and videos. 

Kyle and Jackie O take their staff

While radioland argues whether Kyle and Jackie O are really heading towards Mix 106.5, Sydney’s Daily Telegraph reported that the duo plan to take some of their 2DAY team with them. They include Executive Producer Simon Greally, Producer Matt Simpson, and Social Media and Talent Producer Tim Dunlop, with Show Manager Nick Cervetto a possibility.

O’Shea hosting Qantas channel

Husband and wife duo, Mark and Jay O’Shea are new hosts of the Qantas in-flight radio channel Big Country. It runs between December and the end of February. The Nashville-based pair already host their own weekly show, O’Shea USA, on the Country Music Channel in America, now in its third season.

New EP for new 92.9 breakfast show

Chris Reeder, one-time finalist in the NZ Radio Awards for best new broadcaster, will Executive Produce 92.9 Perth’s new breakfast show: Heidi, Will & Woody.

Milyika Scales exits MusicNT

After five years, Milyika Scales is leaving Northern Territory’s peak music association MusicNT. She was Alice Springs Program Manager.

Warner taps Dirk Ewald for global catalogue role

Warner Music Group announced Dirk Ewald as SVP, Global Catalogue Management. Based in London he will work the label’s offices around the world to identify consumer trends, work out commercial opportunities, and lead marketing campaigns for catalogue and compilation releases. He was most recently at EMI as SVP of Catalogue for Australasia, Europe and Japan.

Change of ownership for Rolling Stone Australia

Rolling Stone Australia’s Editor In Chief Matthew Coyte has now taken over its publishing, through his company Paper Riot. It was most recently owned by Bauer Media. The staff remains unchanged, and Amy Gates returns as Advertising, Sponsorship and Event Manager.

Cheryl Cole to return to X Factor

Former Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole is returning as judge to X-Factor UK at the request of Simon Cowell who sacked her from the US version of the show in 2010. He said at the time she looked “bewildered”, and replaced her with Nicole Scherzinger. The pair’s friendship soured, but of late they kissed and made up. X Factor has been smashed in the UK by Strictly Come Dancing, and Cowell sees Cole’s return as part of his strategy to bring the viewers back.

Anna Reid joins Sydney Opera House team

Anna Reid is the new Chief Marketing Officer for the Sydney Opera House. She replaces Victoria Doidge who left in late September after five years, during which box office takings were up 50% and the venue expanded its digital presence. Reid headed the marketing division at Pacific Brands.

Cathy Rhodes departs Val Morgan

Val Morgan’s Victorian Sales Director Cathy Rhodes has resigned. After joining in 2003, she expanded cinema ad revenue in the Victorian market by over 100%.

Matt Campbell to head CJZ

One time Managing Director at Shine Australia Matt Campbell is new CEO of production company Cordell Jigsaw Zapruder. His brief is to boost pre-sales of productions overseas. Campbell left Shine after a year in his job, when Carl Fennessey returned as joint CEO.
