First speakers for 2019 WAMCON & TurnUp! conferences
This year’s WAMCON conference has snared a number of international speakers.
The event is held in Perth at the State Theatre of Western Australia on November 1 & 2 as part of WAMfest.
The overseas contingent is made up of US executives Timmy Hefner, agent at Ground Control Touring; Bri Aab of Secretly Canadian; and agent Archie Hamilton of Prophecy Records XX.
There are also eleven Australian speakers, including triple j’s assistant music director Gemma Pike, Collective Artist Agency’s founder Bec Young, Chelsea Gough of Native Tongue publishing, New World Artists agent Liam Saunders and Phaedra Watts of Nannup Festival.

On the other side of the country, on the Sunshine Coast, the TurnUp! Sunshine Coast Music Industry Conference announced Michael Chugg to present its keynote address.
He’ll take on the challenges of making money out of digital distribution, the new recorded music landscape, ticket scalpers and local radio airplay.
The 15 other speakers and presenter include road warrior Howard Freeman, Lucius Borich of COG, Kellie Lloyd (APRA AMCOS), author and broadcaster Stuart Coupe, Trina Massey (Association of Artist Managers), retail legend Barry Bull and Roland West (Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance).
