Australians first to remix Billie Eilish with Apple Music Labs

Australians are the first in the world to be given the chance to remix a Billie Eilish track using GarageBand on iPhone.

It’s part of Apple’s latest Music Labs sessions at Apple Stores over the next several weeks.

Customers can deconstruct her song ‘You Should See Me In A Crown’ after finding out what inspired her. Devices will be provided as part of Apple’s mission with labs “to build on your existing skills.”

Eilish has previously been named an ‘Up Next’ artist by Apple Music and regarded as an influential musician in the Apple artist community.

Last year, her ‘Come Out And Play’ was used in Apple’s “Share Your Gifts” ad, and made a video with Apple that showcased how she uses her iPhone and iMac to create music with her brother and producer Finneas O’Connell.

Eilish also set a record for the most pre-adds — when users register to add an album to their streaming collection before it is released — on Apple Music.

Her album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? got 800,000 pre-adds before its March release.

In the meantime, Apple Music has rebranded its The A-List: Alternative playlist as ALT CTRL.

“Alternative is more an attitude than a sound — music that colors just a bit outside the lines,” Apple said.

“ALT CTRL…is where you’ll find the best of those new left-of-center tunes.”

The first playlist includes Tame Impala, Death Cab for Cutie, Billie Eilish, Fitz and the Tantrums, Twenty One Pilots, White Reaper and Clairo.

The playlist will be constantly updated with new songs and curated by he company’s staffers.

Each week ALT CTRL will spotlight an artist, the first being LA pop-rock trio Haim who just dropped new single ‘Summer Girl.’

Singer-guitarist Danielle Haim told Apple Music about the song: “I remember being in some faraway town on tour and feeling a moment of inspiration.

“I opened up GarageBand, started messing around with it, and came up with this weird bassline.

“I wrote the verse super-quickly, came up with the drum part — and cranked the reverb.”
