“It was like no other experience I’ve ever had before”: Timmy Trumpet plays DJ set in zero gravity
Australian EDM hitmaker DJ Timmy Trumpet has made history becoming the first instrumentalist to DJ in zero gravity.
With the help of the European Space Agency, German music promoters BigCityBeats were able to create a first-of-a-kind nightclub experience.
Timmy played an out of this world DJ set for a select group of VIPs and international celebrities including Orange Is The New Black cast member Dascha Polanco.
Departing from mission control in Frankfurt, the noveSpace vessel performed a series of parabolic flights each lasting 22 seconds in zero gravity.
Moments prior to each parabola, the passengers reached 2G before experiencing weightlessness.
“It was like no other experience I’ve ever had before,” the EDM star explains.
“I expected to be swimming around in the air, like it was water, but you actually have almost no control at all.
“You could touch the side of the wall with one finger and that could send you flying across the room.
“The very first time we reached zero G, I felt something throughout my entire body that is hard to describe.
“The astronauts did their best to prepare us for the feeling but it’s simply too hard to put into words.”
Timmy Trumpet’s latest single ‘High’ features hip hop act Bliss n Eso.
They met backstage at a festival.
