Big Deal Touring applies to wind up Ralph Carr’s touring division
Veteran live music executive Sam Righi’s Sydney-based tour company Big Deal Touring Pty Ltd has applied to the Federal Court to wind up one of manager and tour promoter Ralph Carr’s companies, RCM Touring.
According to documents filed with the court, the claim is due to an alleged non-payment of $126,000.
Righi has asked for RCM Touring “to be wound up in insolvency relying on failure by the company to comply with a statutory demand.”
Big Deal Touring wants a liquidator appointed and its costs reimbursed from the property of RCM Touring.
It broke down the alleged debt to invoices for the Elvis Encore tour ($16,500), the now-cancelled Roy Orbison hologram tour ($16,500), a Priscilla Presley tour ($25,300), an appearance by footballer Dustin Martin at The Palms club in Melbourne ($11,000) and a bonus payable under the Elvis agreement.
The hearing is scheduled on June 1 at 11 am in Sydney.
Righi was CEO of the Harbour Agency from February 1978 to December 2002.
He set up Big Deal Touring in 2006.
Carr was the manager of Tina Arena and Rick Price, and helped break them internationally by promoting their tours.
His current clients include Dustin Martin, Richard Wilkins, Kate Ceberano, Mark Vincent and Bonnie Anderson.
Carr declined to comment to TMN.
