ARIA Chart Predictions: Courtney Barnett in the running for debut #1
Australia’s Courtney Barnett is blowing up locally and internationally with the release of her third studio album Tell Me How You Really Feel. She will look to set a new Albums Chart PB this week, doing battle for #1 with The Greatest Showman, Post Malone‘s beerbongs & bentleys and another debut release.
Previous albums Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Think Sit (2015) and Lotta Sea Lice with Kurt Vile (2017) peaked inside the Top 5. The former spent 24 weeks in the chart, rising as high as #4.
Las Vegas heavy metal icons Five Finger Death Punch are also in contention with seventh studio album And Justice For None. A Top 3 debut is likely for the band whose previous release Got Your Six marked the first 5FDP album to crack the top bracket in Australia.
Other notable debuts come from UK star James Bay’s Electric Light, Korean boy band BTS’s Love Yourself, and the Deadpool 2 soundtrack, all of which will see Top 10 finishes.
After a relatively slow start to their comeback, 5 Seconds Of Summer have kicked into full gear as their track ‘Youngblood’ eyes the top spot on the Singles Chart. Standing in 5SOS’ way is Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’ and the ever-present Post Malone with ‘Better Now’.
