ARIA Chart Predictions: Kylie Minogue and Hillsong Worship to debut in the Top 5
It’s a very strong week for Australian artists on the ARIA Albums Chart with three of our artists eyeing debut spots in the Top 10.
With a long history of charting success, Kylie Minogue is leading the charge with her new record Golden. With four ARIA #1 albums to her name since 2000’s Light Years went to the top, Kylie’s chief obstacle this week will be Ed Sheeran’s Divide which has just notched is 26th week at #1.
Hillsong Worship are back on the radar with their annual album offering There Is More. Recorded live in Sydney at the Worship & Creative Conference 2017, the last seven albums from Hillsong Worship have peaked in the Top 10. Of their 26 live albums, two have gone on to reach #1 (2004’s For All You’ve Done, 2015’s Open Heaven / River Wild).
Alison Wonderland’s second studio album Awake is also fairing well at the halfway stage of the week. Previous release Run made it as far as #6 in April 2015, re-entering the chart multiple times since then.
Heavy metal band Bad Wolves have come out of nowhere with their new version of The Cranberries’ classic ‘Zombie’. The song will attempt to edge into the Top 10 on the Singles Chart this week, but still has a long way to go before it can match the original’s seven consecutive weeks spent at #1 in 1994/95.
Other debuts on the chart include Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa’s collab ‘One Kiss’ and Drake’s newest single ‘Nice For What’. Both are garnering substantial attention from commercial radio this week and may fall in the Top 15 on the chart.
