TMN launches multi platform music chart & Singles Report
The Music Network is launching Australia’s first consolidated music chart to track singles’ performances across all platforms, including radio, digital sales, streaming and video.
The TMN Artist Top 20 is designed to reflect the multi-dimensional listening habits of Australians and provide a snapshot of which are truly the most successful artists and fast movers each week.
In addition, TMN will also publish a new and comprehensive weekly report with 40+ charts across all music and social platforms, with analysis and trending artists. The Australian Singles Report will be sent to all TMN subscribers from Monday October 31.
According to TMN’s Publisher Mark Dalgleish, the new chart and report are in response to the plethora of data freely available from the digital music providers. “Charts data is useful for identifying trends and making decisions on when and where to release or play a single, book a tour, or focus marketing. The problem is that there is so much data now available that music professionals are struggling to stay on top of all these charts. We’ll be cutting through the noise and providing some succinct analysis and a snapshot of all the major Top 10 charts in one place.”
Dalgleish and Charts Manager, Daniel Respall consulted extensively with labels and radio MDs to get the right balance and believe the new chart and free report will provide a useful tool to industry.
Although 75% of millennials are discovering their music online, almost half of Australians are over 44-years-old and radio is still an important source of music. According to a recent report by Eventbrite, 35% of Australians head to YouTube to listen to an artist after discovering them, so video is an important part of the charts mix.
Formulated using electronically monitored data across sales, airplay, digital, and social media, the Australian Singles Report is a free, weekly snapshot of Australia’s music consumption.
Stay tuned on Monday.
