Tash Sultana Inks Expanded Deal With Kobalt

Tash Sultana re-signs with Kobalt to handle their publishing administration on a worldwide basis, an expanded deal that includes sync and creative services for future songs.

Announced today (March 21), the arrangement is an extension to a deal struck between the Rolling Stone Australia cover star and Kobalt in 2017.

“We’re incredibly proud and excited to announce this next evolution in Kobalt’s relationship with Tash Sultana in what is sure to be a big year for them with new music and global touring,” comments Simon Moor, managing director, APAC, Kobalt.

“This long-term global agreement deepens our partnership with Tash and all of their great music.”

Sultana’s Kobalt deal is signed and delivered just days after the multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer-songwriter and loopologist drops “James Dean,” a fresh indie-pop track lifted from their upcoming EP, slated for release later in 2023.

That new EP is the follow-up to Sultana’s full-length second LP Terra Firma, which led the ARIA Albums Chart, their first leader.

Terra Firma number “Pretty Lady” went on to win best single at the 2021 Rolling Stone Australia Awards.

Earlier, Sultana scored an ARIA Award with Flow State (for best blues & roots album), their debut LP which peaked at No. 2 on the national chart in 2018.

“LTM have had a great relationship with Simon, Briese, Margot and the Kobalt team for many years now,” comments Regan Lethbridge, co-founder of Lemon Tree Music, the artist management company that guides the career of Sultana and others.

“We are thrilled Tash Sultana can continue this special relationship globally. Team Tash are excited about the years ahead together and to continue to witness Tash grow as a prolific songwriter and plays the world’s biggest stages.”

A formidable live performer, Sultana will spend much of this year on the road touring in Australasia, Asia, Europe and North America.

Kobalt’s international network spans 13 offices, and the business serves over 700,000 songs, representing such songwriters as Max Martin, FINNEAS, Stevie Nicks, Phoebe Bridgers, Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, and many more.

“I love working with the Kobalt team and am happy to continue a partnership globally,” says Sultana of the new deal.

“I’m excited for my new songs I’ve been working on for so long see the light of day.”
