SCA’s streaming platform LiSTNR reaches 500,000 users

Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) digital music streaming and podcast platform, LiSTNR, now has 500,000 signed-in users, the company has said.

The milestone was revealed in SCA’s half-year results, which track the company’s financial performance from July 1 to December 31, 2021.

The company said LiSTNR is now ‘maturing at pace’ and flagged further investment in the platform to drive even stronger sign-ups and habitual listening.

It said it would achieve this by focusing on exceptional marketing, great content and a digital-first publishing strategy.

SCA CEO, Grant Blackley, said LiSTNR is at the core of SCA’s business.

“The strong brand recognition and expanding premium library of content are generating a higher number and increasing weight of advertising briefs from marketers looking to connect with addressable audiences at scale,” he said.

In April last year, Blackley revealed his lofty hopes for sign-ups to the platform, and also said the platform was aiming to launch 35 new music-based stations, taking it to a total of 50.

In July last year, SCA announced 10 new DAB+ music stations, taking its total to 25.

At the time, SCA’s head of music, Mickey Maher, said LiSTNR is aiming to deliver something for everyone “with music to suit your mood, your lifestyle, the genres you love or the new ones you will soon discover”.

“Music has such an amazing power, it can influence our moods, connect us to a time and place, be a companion, be the life of the party, and expose our ears and minds to a new world of sounds and genres,” he added.

And just last month, SCA revealed a new 24/7 RnB Fridays station, with former The Edge Breakfast hosts Mike ‘E’ Etheridge and Emma Chow helming its weekday Brekkie show.
