5SOS becomes first Aussie #1 on ARIA singles chart since 2016

After a chart year dominated by the major international players, 5 Seconds of Summer have taken out the #1 spot on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Youngblood’.

They are the first Australian act to nab the #1 spot on the Singles Chart in almost two years.

‘Youngblood’ has spent six weeks on the chart, and moved up from the #3 position last week thanks to a trip home. They will tour in support of their upcoming third album in August

The single is the second from the band to enjoy a #1 position on the ARIA Charts, topping the chart for a week back in March 2014 with ‘She Looks Perfect’.

The last Aussie single to sit atop the Singles Chart was The Veronicas‘ ‘In My Blood’, which enjoyed two weeks in the #1 position in July 2016.

5SOS bested massive international contenders this week for the top position such as Post Malone, Childish Gambino, Calvin Harris, Khalid, Drake, Ariana Grande.

‘Youngblood’ is the 60th #1 song for Capitol Records, the first since Sam Smith took it out last September.
