5 Seconds of Summer are coming back to Australia for ARIA Awards
5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) head back to Australia from their current European dates for the ARIA Awards later this month.
They will perform their smash single ‘Youngblood’, which has been certified six times platinum in Australia, and is the longest running Australian #1 on the ARIA Singles chart.
The track’s cumulative (unit sales, downloads, streams) worldwide sales already surpassing 5 million.
Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood have notched up four nominations at the awards – best group, best pop release, Apple Music song of the year and best Australian live act.
Their follow up single ‘Valentine’ also has a global trajectory, its video, co-directed Irwin, has had over seven million views.
They just picked up the Best Rock award at the MTV European Music Awards.
The Youngblood album debuted at #1 in Australia and the US, on its release in June 2018, and already sold more than a million copies.
5SOS are now the only band (not vocal group) in US chart history to see its first three full-length studio albums enter the Billboard 200 at #1.
ARIA says this achievement mirrors Australia’s, where Youngblood became their third consecutive ARIA chart-topping debut.
The ARIA Awards With Apple Music is staged in Sydney on Wednesday, November 28.
