46 Victorian projects share in $500,000

The Victorian Government’s arts department Creative Victoria’s latest Music Works Major Funding round sees 46 projects sharing in $500,000.
Yarra City Council picked up $30,000 to fund the fourth Leaps and Bounds festival. Paradise Music festival will use its $10,000 injection to add a new stage.
Remote Control Records received $13,500 to run a series of live sessions at Newmarket Studios.
Courtney Barnett’s Milk Records got $8,391 for the mastering, production and promotion of Split Singles Club – a mail-order subscription series of 6 x split 7″ singles from 12 Victorian artists, co-released with indie label Bedroom Suck.
The City of Greater Geelong will use its $11,000 grant for three new talents to write three tracks with three established musicians, all from Geelong, and make videos for each.
The $6,000 for Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre in Grovedale will see the staging of NaranaFest, an all-ages community festival celebrating music, indigenous culture and art in the Geelong Surf Coast region.
Melbourne community radio station 3PBS successfully obtained $9,846 to produce and promote video footage for Drive Live, a series of five, live-to-air performances.
As a result, acts including Harpoons, High Tension, Vaudeville Smash, Luluc, Milwaukee Banks, Smile, Forever Son, Alex Lahey, Senegambian Jazz Band, Jae Laffer, Laura Jean, Jazz Party, Banoffee, Summer Flake, Mammoth Mammoth, Lowtide, Ara Koufax, Jazz Party, Loose Tooth, Hannah Cameron will make EP, albums or video releases.
Husky, Cash Savage and the Last Drink, Kllo and Gabriella Cohen will play dates in North America and/or Europe.
