2024 AWMAs Finalists Announced
Kasey Chambers, Alice Ivy, Deborah Conway, and Katie Noonan are among this year’s finalists for the Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMAs).
Now in its fifth year, AWMA attracted a record number of nominations across 19 award categories spanning all music genres and acknowledging the many behind-the-scenes roles vital to the Australian music industry.
The 2024 AWMAs also has a new category, the Opera Australia Impact Award, as part of a new partnership with Opera Australia. The inaugural finalists are Sydney-based musical composer and vocalist Andrée Greenwell, Melbourne-born soprano, producer and stage director Linda Thompson, and Queensland singer/composer Jessica O’Donoghue.
In the Artistic Excellence category, Kasey Chambers, Mo’Ju, and Katie Noonan will vie for the Artists Excellence Award, while Chris Erskine, Paula Irvine, and Sean Warner are nominates for the ARIA Executive Leader Game Changer Award.

“A hallmark of AWMA is our capacity to reach women and disadvantaged communities from diverse backgrounds whilst raising the collective voice to promote the importance of gender equality in the music industry,” says AWMA Founding Executive Producer and Program Director Vicki Gordon.
Queensland musician and educator Dr Diana Tolmie, who led the 48-member Juror Council, adds: “The jurors had their work cut out for them. Jurors commented how impressed they were with the inspiring stories of the nominees, and felt privileged to help celebrate the diversity and tenacity of such music professionals.”
Hitmakers Vanessa Amorosi and Toni Watson (aka Tones and I), industry advocate Emily Collins, and veteran music journalist Jane Gazzo were among the big winners at the 2023 AWMAs.
This year’s AWMAs will be held on October 2nd at Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, where music industry leaders and guests will gather for a star-studded evening, featuring curated performances around the theme ‘From Rock to Opera’. Tickets to the October 2nd ceremony go on sale early next month.
