Tones And I has swept the 2019 ARIA Awards, picking up four out of eight pointy trophies.

As well as performing her internationally viral hit ‘Dance Monkey’, she was awarded Best Female Artist, Best Pop Release, Breakthrough Artist presented by PPCA and Best Independent Release.

Dean Lewis also picked up multiple gongs on the night (Best Male Artist, Album Of The Year), and The Teskey Brothers added another two (Best Blues & Roots Album, Best Group), after Sam Teskey had already been awarded won Engineer Of The Year.

Host Guy Sebastian took out two of the publicly voted categories; Best Video and Song Of The Year, both presented by YouTube Music.

Paul Kelly added the ARIA for Best Adult Contemporary Album to his Fine Art ARIA for Best Classical Album which he shares with James Ledger.

Some of the many highlights included the 2019 ARIA Industry Icon Award being presented to Michael Chugg – co-founder of Frontier Touring Company and Michael Chugg Entertainment.

Human Nature were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, and the band performed a smashing medley of their greatest hits.

“2019 has been an amazing year for Australian music and it was certainly on show at this year’s ARIA Awards,” said ARIA chief executive Dan Rosen.

“The collection of tonight’s winners, nominees and performers highlight our world class homegrown talent. I am thrilled to have shared the celebration with Australian audiences on the Nine Network and music fans around the world with YouTube.”

“On behalf of the ARIA Board, I would like to congratulate all the winning artists and nominees at the 2019 ARIA Awards in partnership with YouTube Music,” added Denis Handlin AO, ARIA Chairman and Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Australia and New Zealand and President, Asia.

“The 2019 ARIA Awards has been an incredible celebration of Australian music, as we showcase the array of talent that our country has to offer to music fans both at home and around the world.”

YouTube Music returned as presenting partner for the 2019 ARIAs, held once again The Star Event Centre, Sydney and broadcast on Nine.
