Australian artist Rupert Bullard has signed a worldwide deal with revered US label, Glassnote Records.

The 19-year-old musician from Tasmania joins the label's roster that already includes some high-profile names, including Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, and fellow Australians, the Teskey Brothers.

“Rupert is an extraordinary young musician," Glassnote founder and CEO Daniel Glass said.

"There's a depth and maturity to his songwriting and musicianship that belies his age - he carries the torch and spirit of the great troubadours who came before him while pointing that tradition somewhere new and refreshing.”

The signing comes as Bullard puts the finishing touches on his debut album, which he recorded in Tasmania alongside acclaimed producer John Castle (Paul Kelly, Vance Joy).

As well as recently picking up Folk Alliance Australia's Youth Folk Artist of the Year award, Bullard has also inked global deals with Universal Music Publishing, WME and Hear Hear Group.

“Around this time last year, I left my home island of Lutruwita/Tasmania to hit the road, playing small shows at pubs and cafes around the country, selling CDs and screen printed t-shirts out of my suitcase. In the time since, I’ve connected with the most kind, inspiring and hardworking family of creatives and mentors," Bullard said.

"With the support and representation of Glassnote Records, Universal Music Publishing, WME and Hear Hear Group, I feel ready to share my songs with the world, and to do so with an open heart and a curious mind.”

Ahead of his debut album release, Bullard is gearing up for local shows, including at Queenscliff Music Festivalm, as well as shows across the UK and Ireland.
