You’re The Voice: Australia gets Deezer through Alexa-supported devices
Australia is among the first 68 countries where Deezer customers can stream music through voice recognition Amazon Alexa supported speakers, such as Echo devices, and Alexa-supported devices such as Sonos One, Ultimate Ears BLAST and MEGABLAST.
Customers simply have to say “Alex play…” followed by the track or album’s name, and Alexa will cue up the music automatically.
It includes the Flow feature, which plays a never-ending personalised soundtrack.
Voice commands can be used to search and play specific tracks, artists, albums and genres, as well as control volume, pause and skip songs.
For those not wanting anything specific, Music For Your Mood recognizes over 18 different moods among 74 different genres.
The music service’s vice president of hardware partnerships Riad Hawa said: “We’re very excited to launch Deezer with Alexa in 66 countries and across a wide range of Alexa supported devices”.
“Voice activation is on the rise, with a growing role in home listening and Deezer is proud to take centre stage in this evolution.
“With one simple request, Alexa users will now be able to listen to any album, artist and playlist through Deezer, making it easier than ever to enjoy the music they love.”
At this point, customers cannot set Deezer as their preferred app.
So they need to advice Alexa to play through Deezer, although it is understood this feature will be coming.
Also getting the Deezer/Alexa service this month are the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand.
