World’s End Press disband

PRESS RELEASE:

Already well-known on the local scene thanks to a handful of choice bangers, World’s End Press rose to global prominence with the release of their expansive and ambitious, self-titled debut LP in 2013. Recorded with the legendary Tim Goldsworthy at Massive Attack Studios in Bristol, the album saw intimate ballads nestle between uplifting house-driven numbers and glassy-eyed 5am club excursions push up against stadium-sized singles. It scored all the right local accolades – triple J feature album, FBI feature (both at the same time!), RRR feature, 4 star reviews from The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Rolling Stone and The Big Issue, as well as a whole lot of love internationally from the pick of the online realm.

The band backed up the release of World’s End Press with an epic, groove-laden, late-night-vibes EP, Tall Stories. Live, the band are in a league of their own, their visceral sets for Let Them Eat Cake, Meredith, Golden Plains and Falls have left audiences feeling dazed and happy. The last few years also saw them touring both nationally and internationally with Primal Scream, Bloc Party, Cut Copy and Phoenix.

The folk at Liberation Music and Mushroom Promotions are extremely sad to see the guy’s wonderful years as World’s End Press come to a close, but wish John, Rhys, Tom (and of course previous member Sashi) every success with their future endeavours.

Dancefloors around the country will never be the same again.

So after spending the best years of our lives together, we, World’s End Press, have decided to call it a day. It’s an amicable breakup; no tantrums, no grudges, no unresolved angst, it’s just guided by the simple desire we all have to try new things.

It has truly been a pleasure and for that we thank you all; you people who noticed us and shared in the good times. From friends and family in the beginning, to all the believers in the industry, particularly Liberation, who graciously helped us out, and of course to the wider audience that in turn became our friends and family, honestly we love you all and we’ve loved every minute of making music for you.

We want to avoid turning this into a soapbox oration so we’ll keep it brief in saying; let’s have just ONE more party.

We need to say goodbye properly and the only way to do it is to be in a room together with very loud music playing.

So we would like to invite you all to our very last show taking place on Friday April 1st at Howler. We’ll have our friends Broadway Sounds and CC Disco along to help us go out with a bang!
