Warner Music veteran Stephen Bryan moves to SoundCloud
After seventeen years at Warner Music Group, Stephen Bryan leaves his position as the company’s Executive Vice President of Digital Strategy and Business Development to become SoundCoud’s new Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy.
The New York-based label vet told Billboard that his transition “had nothing to do with WMG. When I joined, it was the very beginning of the digital transition – the reason why I stayed there so long is that I’ve always felt a deep passion to navigate this incredible transition to digital platforms.”
Bryan, who was involved in YouTube’s first agreement with a music major, acknowledges SoundCloud’s seasoned position in audio streaming. “The really compelling thing about the platform is that we’re at the early stages of listening moving to a streaming model. It’s inevitable that global listening will move to a streaming model. I see enormous growth as that continues to happen.”
According to a WMG spokesperson, an announcement regarding Bryan’s replacement is expected to follow shortly.
