Warner Music Australia signs Boy Soda

Warner Music Australia is shaking it up with new signing Boy Soda.

Born Brae Luafalealo, and bred in Terrigal on the NSW Central Coast, the newcomer celebrates his new deal with the release today of ‘LOVEU2BITS,’ his debut single.

Warner Music Australasia President Dan Rosen predicts big things from the young singer, songwriter and producer.

“As we enter a new era for Warner Music Australia and continue to evolve our domestic roster, Brae is a perfect example of the kind of artist we want to be working with,” Rosen enthuses.

“He possesses a unique talent with truly international potential, and is authentic, passionate and driven.”

Boy Soda got his skates on in 2019 when he was selected by sneaker brand Converse for a U.S. experience.

On one West Coast trip, Boy Soda opened for Dominic Fike at the Converse x Camp Flog Gnaw brand event in Los Angeles.

Encouraged by the opportunity, he independently released the double A-Side ‘Take Your Time/See Someone’ and ‘Daisy Chain,’ earning support from triple j unearthed and FBi Radio.

Paul Harris, Senior VP Australian Artists & A&R at Warner Music Australia, sings Boy Soda’s praises. “He’s fast emerged as a leading voice in the burgeoning Sydney RnB and hip-hop scenes,” he explains.

The respect Boy Soda “has earned from his peers, his brilliant live shows and his incredible song-writing talent made it a natural fit for the partnership between us,” Harris continues. “His songs are already garnering significant interest from overseas, and we see Brae as a truly international talent.”

Boy Soda joins the Warner Music roster as Rosen reinvigorates the domestic company with a string of signings, deals and appointments.

In recent days, Christina Erskine, Cathy Oates and Rich Wiles have joined the music major’s executive ranks, closely following the announcement of several promotions, hires and changes across the Australian and NZ teams.

Earlier this year, Matt Corby and his longtime collaborator Alex Henriksson launched Rainbow Valley Records, through a new joint venture with Warner Music Australia.

Boy Soda reckons he’s come to the right place. “I’ve wanted to be signed to a label since I was a kid because I always thought that was the reason that artists ‘made it,’” he explains. “I realise now that success in the music industry comes from two things – having clear vision and having a kickass team that’s gonna help you execute that vision. So joining the Warner family made complete sense in that aspect.”
