Vevo’s Nic Jones relinquishes role, returns to Australia
Vevo’s EVP international and chief revenue officer, Nic Jones, is returning home to Australia after relinquishing his role in the US.
In an internal email obtained by Music Business Worldwide, Vevo’s CEO, Erik Huggers said Jones is making the move from San Francisco to be closer to his family.
MBW reports Jones will continue to act as chief revenue officer for the remainder of the year, after which he may continue on at Vevo.
In August, TMN broke the story that Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) had acquired branded content company Authentic Entertainment for an undisclosed sum. Industry insiders called it a “fire sale” at the same.
The purchase saw SCA become the exclusive representative of Vevo in Australia and New Zealand.
As TMN reported in August, Authentic’s agreement with Vevo, which was inked in 2013, was due to expire in the second-half of 2017. TMN understands SCA had entered discussions with New York-based Vevo around the time of the acquisition to extend that agreement.
An industry source has told TMN SCA is looking to make an executive hire to spearhead the next phase of Vevo in Australia. It is not known whether Jones has plans to join SCA upon his return home.
The network told TMN Jones will not be working with SCA upon his return.
Vevo is now seeking a new chief revenue officer to replace Jones in the US. In a company-wide email obtained by MBW, Huggers said:
“I want to thank Nic for his tremendous service to Vevo in this role, and for working with us over the next few months to ensure the sales organization continues to drive strong results as we manage a smooth transition process.”
Jones joined Vevo as SVP International in 2011. Before that, he was director of Sydney-based media-buying platform Brandscreen for over five years.
Vevo, which is co-owned by Sony Music, Abu Dhabi Media, Alphabet and Universal Music Group, delivers over176 million video streams and 9 million unique Australianusers across desktop, TV and mobile, per month.
