Vevo predicts 200m monthly streams for Australia & NZ

Authentic Entertainment, who manage VEVO across Australia and New Zealand, has reported a significant growth in usage, revenue and engagement over the first half of 2015.

In June this year Vevo reported an increase of 14% year-on-year growth in the two territories, with Australia accounting for 9m of the 11m users. Australia’s tipping of the scales can be expected; VEVO only officially launched in New Zealand at the end of 2014.

The year-on-year growth is up 6% since December 2014 with Vevo now receiving over 147m monthly streams including 115 million from Australia alone.

The figures follow a milestone Vevo reached in February when it reported 100m monthly streams in Australia and 12bn monthly video views globally.

Scott Hamilton, Director of Digital Media at Authentic Entertainment told TMN:"There are numerous factors of which theproduct and the content are prime contributors. At the same time there have been some exceptional music videos released this year," he said."18-34 year olds have moved away from traditional platforms as theirconsumption habits change. The short form revolution is taking hold. Advertisers are certainly benefitting from this as they start to move with this hard to reach market. We are uniquely placed todeliver quality content in a one for one value exchange which traditional platforms cannot match."

Vevo has also reported strong growth in both mobile usage and advertising revenue. In line with a reported 49.5% of Vevo’s monthly views now happening on mobile devices and connected TVs, mobile use in Australia and New Zealand this year is up 7% since December.

Authentic entertainment today reported a 205% increase in VEVO's monthly revenue in the past 18 months. Brands using the platform's high engagement rates come from a range of sectors including subscription video services, major telcos, supermarkets, motor vehicles, Government, FMCG’s and QSRs.

Hamilton told TMN Vevo isthe #1 video platform for 18-34 olds across mobile, desktop and connected devices.

Greg Tremain, Commercial Director at Authentic Entertainment said: "Brands want real engagement and connection and this is what VEVO offers with unbeatable scale, delivering the biggest audience and the biggest engagement in terms of video streams across the region. Advertisers recognise the uncluttered, personal premium video connection that VEVO delivers to consumers and the valuable data it provides for better targeting. Authentic Entertainment will continue to develop more opportunities for advertisers to access real advantages for their brands with VEVO’s on-demand audience".

With Vevo accounting for over 40 of the top 250 channels on YouTube, and with its projected 200m monthly stream milestone slated for the next 12 months, the figures only fuel speculation of a possible acquisition. Prior to the exit of founding CEO Rio Caraeff at the end of 2014, Vevo was allegedly exploring a possible sale with DreamWorks Animation, Liberty Media, and AT&T named as potential buyers.
