Universal Music Group gifts $500,000 to Manchester victims

Universal Music Group provided the bulk of the talent at yesterday evening’s One Love Manchester benefit show, which has (so far) raised over $9M for the victims of last fortnight’s terrorist attack.

They have taken their philanthropy further still, announcing they will donate a further $500,000 to the victims. Ariana Grande is signed to a branch of UMG.

“The Universal Music Group global family is proud to stand with Ariana Grande and its other performing artists in their support for the victims and families affected by the Manchester attack with a combined donation of $500,000 to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund”, the label said in a statement.

While the attack was obviously a horrendous occurrence, it’s pleasing to see the industry banding together in support of something bigger. Even our kid Liam Gallagher stopped insulting Coldplay for long enough to join them onstage for a rendition of evergreen anthem, ‘Live Forever’. Watch below.
