UNIFIED podcast Funny Business to make live debut in February
In the throes of lockdown, Rob Hicks & Lachlan Bradford launched Funny Business — a podcast in collaboration with UNIFIED Music Group & Lonely Lands Agency.
On Friday, February 12th, the boys in Funny Business will make their live debut at Melbourne’s 170 Russell, in what is set to be an evening that’s equal parts illuminating and hilarious.
Hicks and Bradford have enlisted the help of number of guests that are experts in their field, including Youth Influencer Of The Year Yasmin Poole, Fluff skincare brand founder Erika Geraerts and the brains behind Bolster & Linktree Alex Zaccaria.
Since it’s debut nine months ago, Funny Business has cracked off a near 80 episodes, with over 37,000lifetime downloads. It was born out of the desire to talk to fellow free speakers. Featuring interview with those that operate in the business and entrepreneurial realms of every industry. It’s required listening for all those that desire to dive head first into the start-up grind.
Throughout its run, Funny Business has played hosts to the likes of comedian Urzila Carlson, croquembouche king Adriano Zumbo, health wizard Laura Henshaw, Violent Soho’s James Tidswell and sporting giants like Mark Mathews, Paul Roos & Sir John Kirwan as guests.
Rob and Lachlan come from polar opposite background, Rob was a former AFL player turned agility coach, whilst Lachlan held down a Community Lead role in tech and design. The pair first crossed paths with each other with the launch of slides company Obie and Co.
“After two hectic years of hustling into retail stores, we both decided to sell the business on Facebook marketplace in 2019. We both made the move to Torquay after that and live around the corner from each other,” explains Bradford, of the driving force behind the podcast.
“We never intended the podcast to blow up as much as it has, but we’re so surprised and energised by the listeners and feedback we got early days we had no choice but to build this puppy out and make it the absolute best we can,” he says.
“There’s no set criteria for the types of guests we have come on the podcast. We just love chatting with interesting people and meeting them through other guests who’ve enjoyed their time with us. It’s all about connection and finding your purpose in a turbulent world.”
