UNDR Ctrl launches management company, signs Bag Raiders
Creative music agency UNDR Ctrl this morning announced the launch of a new management division of the business – UNDR Ctrl Mgmt.
Its first client is Bag Raiders, whom UNDR Ctrl director and founder Paul Stix has been working with since 2010.
That year, Stix had moved to Australia from the UK and was appointed as the duo’s agent while working at Modular Records.
UNDR Ctrl came into being in July 2014.
Over the weekend, Stix and his team – Will Stevens, Annabel Weston and Lex Halpin — celebrated the company’s 4th birthday with a sold-out show at the Red Rattler warehouse in Marrickville, Sydney.
Stix explained the transition to management: “With nearly 20 years’ experience in the Sydney and London music industries, I have picked up a few handy tips along the way that I hope will put me in good stead to manage the good ship Bag Raiders.
“The introduction of the new management arm at UNDR Ctrl comes at a really exciting time, as we’re currently finalising plans for the release of Bag Raiders’ second LP next year.
“I’ve worked very closely with Jack and Chris for the past eight years, and the move into management just felt like a natural and logical next step.
“There’s some really exciting times ahead and my team and I cannot wait to share the new album with the world – it will be well worth the wait.”
UNDR Ctrl’s agency arm represents Annie Bass, Bag Raisers, Jensen, Interceptor, Just A Gent, LexDeluxe, Luen Jacobs, Motorik Vibe Council, MUTO, Polographia, Poloshirt, Purple Sneakers DJs, Set Mo, Shantan Wantan, Ichiban, Total Giovanni and World Champion, plus international names DROELOE and San Holo.
Of the firm’s events, Output Festival returns to Goat Island on November 24 with Mall Grab, DJ Seinfeld and HAA among others.
The Sydney Harbour summer music series The Island LIVE relaunches for Season 5 in November.
Other events include the Mixmag Live Stream series, and large-scale events including the sold-out Claptone: The Masquerade show at the Roundhouse, the entry level Music Biz 101 for new artists, and the five-a-side football charity game Musica Copa, which has raised over $50,000 since launching in 2013.
