Melbourne gets two new inclusive festivals for this summer.

LGBTIQ+ rave promoters Unicorns have ventured into a full-blown festival as part of Midsumma.

Unicorns The Festival takes over Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre on Saturday, February 2 between 1 pm and midnight.

They promise: “Expect our usual antics of glitter stations, kissing booths, body painting, talented performance artists and quality beats. But throw in some sexy educational workshops, game rooms, hair and makeup stations and more music than you can poke a bubble wand at!”

The 60+ artists include MicahTron, OETHA, Miss Blanks, Huntly, SIMONA, Paul Gorrie, Megan Bones and DJ Sezzo.

All Sorts debuts on January 27 on the Riva beachfront in St. Kilda.

DJs as Seth Troxler, John Course, Robin S and Sveta are joined by LGBTQI+ performers as Art Simone, Dandrogyny and The Huxleys.

The inaugural event is the team-up of Untitled Group (Beyond The Valley, Ability, Pitch Music & Arts) and promoter Poof Doof who’ve been throwing gay raves for seven years.

Poof Doof had its own stage at the recent Beyond The Valley.

In other inaugural festival news:

The Sydney staging of US hip hop event Rolling Loud (January 27), which sold out in 40 minutes last November, this week added three final acts: Compton rapper YG, Melbourne’s Sophiegrophy and Florida’s Ski Mask the Slump God.
