Two massive promotions at BMG Australia

Two massive promotions at BMG Australia

Following an increased focus on its records business, and a string of successes including two consecutive Top 10 ARIA debuts, BMG Australia has announced two promotions within its recorded music team.

Jodie Feld, joined the BMG team three years ago as A&R Coordinator after working in the sync department at Alberts Music. As announced today by BMG, Field is now A&R Manager.

Field comes well prepared to strengthen BMG’s Australian recorded music business. Field’s last three years at BMG has seen her work the publishing catalogue for acts like Peking Duk, Alison Wonderland, What So Not, SAFIA, Didirri, Running Touch and Winston Surfshirt.

In her new role as A&R Manager, Field will help grow and manage BMG’s Australian recorded music roster, as well as manage the company’s new recording studio, to be launched soon.

Craig Redfearn, who has over 15 years of experience in the Aus and UK music industries, has been promoted from Senior Manager, Recorded Music to Director of Marketing.

From his experience at the Sydney Opera House overseeing PR and media for VividLIVE, to his global management experience at D.E.F Management in London (where he managed Moby, Royksopp and Mylo), Redfearn couldn’t be better tipped for the role.

Redfearn’s previous roles also saw him work in MTV UK’s Talent & Music Department and in Promotions and Artist Relations at Universal Music Australia. And during his time at BMG, he has directed campaigns for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, A Perfect Circle, Karen O & Dangermouse, The Easybeats reissue, and many more.

Both Jodie Feld and Craig Redfearn are reporting to Managing Director Heath Johns.

BMG’s local recorded roster currently includes the company’s new signing in Angus Stone’s solo project Dope Lemon, Dune Rats, whose new single ‘No Plans’ is currently #1 at alternative radio, SAFIA (ex. ANZ), Totty (currently on rotation on triple j), Blessed, Gooch Palms and most recently, upcoming artists Kat Edwards and Beachwood.

Last year was the music company’s first year launching domestic recorded projects. Looking at their roster’s chart placings, you could say they nailed it. BMG Australia had two consecutive Top 10 ARIA debuts for local acts The Living End and Dead Letter Circus, and Top 10 ARIA debuts for international signings Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and A Perfect Circle.

BMG Australia’s Managing Director, Heath Johns, said:

“We have rapidly established BMG Australia as a premier home for Australian recording artists seeking fairer deals and world class creative services. Craig and Jodie have both played a key role in this mission and I’m delighted to announce these much-deserved promotions as BMG continues to take Australian music to the world”.

Since its launch in March 2016, BMG Australia acquired legendary music company Alberts (including administration of the AC/DC, Vanda, Wright and Young catalogues) and one of Asia-Pacific’s largest production music houses Big Bang & Fuzz. It partnered with Peking Duk on their children’s book DJ Duks, and inked a deal with renowned TV drama Neighbours in November to provide repertoire from both its publishing and recordings rosters.

BMG, founded by German media giant Bertelsmann in 2008, is the world’s fourth biggest music publisher, and today represents over 2.5 million songs and recordings. This year, its recorded music division has released albums by Kylie, Avril Lavigne, Bring Me The Horizon and many more.
